The types of weapon models

Die-cast build kits

Goat Guns kits are zinc-alloy miniatures, typically a third or quarter the size of the real firearm, that come as a set of metal parts plus small screws and a tool. They assemble in 30 to 60 minutes with no glue or paint and have working features such as moving bolts, removable magazines and folding stocks on some models. Their weight and finish make them popular desk pieces and gifts. A display rack is available to show several together.

Plastic scale kits

Brands such as Trumpeter and Italeri make plastic kits of weapons, artillery and machine guns in 1/35 or larger. These are traditional model kits that need cement and paint, and the 1/35 ones pair naturally with figures and tanks in a diorama.

Brick-built and wood models

Brick-built rifles and pistols range from small desk models to full-size replicas, with movable parts and display stands. Laser-cut wooden models press together with no glue and often include a working rubber-band or mechanical action. Both are building projects first: expect anywhere from an evening to several days.

Responsible display

Full-size replicas, even plastic brick ones, can be mistaken for real firearms. Keep them at home or at events where replicas are expected, never carry them in public, and check local laws, which vary between countries and states. The die-cast miniatures are small enough not to raise that concern but are still not toys for young children.
